Mobile service by Asia-oriented

For gambling use in Asia WAP proves to be three times as big as Smartphone, Bodog88 opines

To ensure it appears at the same time as the third round matches of the FA Cup, Bodog88, the Asia-oriented operator, decided to launch a new WAP interface and a smartphone which allows in both formats access to all types of betting.

The ONEworks has developed both the smartphone and WAP products.

WAP is in the same way being considered in Europe as was Betamax to a tape or VHS cassette against a CD. Apparently, this is not the case in Asia, a continent in which, according to ONEworks, as much as seventy per cent of the market is represented by bets placed through WAP.

The bodog88's managing director, Robert Gustafsson, said:

"Everybody was surprized by the WAP's strength in Asia. This includes myself. The result is, it is made justifiable to wait until both versions are up and on offer before we make up our minds to introduce to the public our mobile service in full.

"The mobile growth was documented extensively and it shows no signs of diminishing in near future but been able to present both the Smartphone and WAP versions should allow us to secure an advantage as far as our competitors are concerned, and will no doubt widen up the brands accessibility in Asia."

The ONEworks head of business development, Tom Hall, commented: "We acknowledge how important for our sportsbook clients is the mobile, and it makes me feel confident that this will allow Bodog to increase its share of the market through our improved mobile offering. It more and more represents the channel of choice amongst our customers."
