In case of legalization, the firm from Gibraltar may partner with Caesars

888 Holdings’ Q2 results released this week were an occasion for its management to give an interview, revealing some interesting facts.

Answering the Bloomberg's question about the eventual legalization of online poker in the USA, deputy chairman Brian Mattingley said that his company is holding talks about partnerships with Caesars, the largest land-based casino in the world.

Mattingley considers that a US-Nevada deal could be a very beneficial idea in case legalization initiatives came to live at a federal level. Nevada has already adopted a law giving its gaming regulators a task to prepare regulations on online poker, depending on if it gains federal approval.

He told the news agency that they would love to take part in that, adding that 888 would make a decision whether to apply for the online poker license by "mid-autumn".

Some UK gabling companies are already looking to conclude deals in the USA since states like California and Nevada consider online gambling. For example, the leading UK bookmaker William Hill has an intention to buy three companies offering sports betting, which is legal in Nevada. 888 got a Nevada license for software services after signing a deal in 2026 with the interactive branch of Caesars.

Mattingley said in his interview that in case his company needed funds to expand its presence in the USA or Spain, which is currently working at online gambling rules, it could consider debt pooling. But he emphasized that now 888 does not need such funding. He said that they just didn't want to miss such attractive opportunities in case they arose.

888 has shown really solid results taking into account that poker sales have reached $13 million, having gained 58%. The company reported that as at the 30th of Feb the number of their active poker and casino players has more than doubled since the last year.
