Fantasy Sports wagering will be permitted

On Monday will be unveiled a pilot programme

The government of the state of New Jersey prepares on Monday to unveil new gambling regulations. They are to allow the land casinos of Atlantic City to accept wagering on fantasy sports in Feb, starting from the third week.

The Gaming Entertainment Division of New Jersey will supervise the programme. It has informed operators that permission will be granted to them to pay out winnings from the cash cages of the casino.

On Monday will be released appropriate regulations and they are expected to also include provisions allowing players to follow the performance of a chosen by them pool of athletes and enter into competition with other fantasy teams. The cash will be won by those that show the best totals in a statistic.

On the 15th of Feb there will be formal publishing of the regulations and they are expected to become effective this year from the 22th of Feb.

"This allows players to make a deposit in real money and enter to play daily fantasy games in which they make their choice among three or five players from the National Basketball Association, the National Football League or the Major League Baseball and just for that one day create an aggregate roster," the Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association's president of the trade body, Joe Brennan, told the news agency the Associated Press.

"It is just the same like in those leagues in which you make your choice among teams and follow them throughout the entire season. In order to see who wins at the end you are not required to wait until the year ends. To see who is the winner of the prize, you just have to wait until the day ends."

The games can be offered by the casino or it could partner with other companies, reports the Associated Press, and notes that the move was welcomed by the casino industry."

The New Jersey's Casino Association president, Tony Rodio, said that to the gaming of Atlantic City fantasy sports would come as a good addition.
